Huons Meditech officially launches Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy device ‘IMPO88 Plus’ for Erectile Dysfunction

Huons Meditech, a medical device company of the Huons Group, is strengthening its competitiveness in the urology devices market by introducing an extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) device ‘IMPO88 Plus’ for erectile dysfunction (ED).

On April 18, Huons Meditech (CEO Lee Jin-suk) announced that it officially launches its ESWT device ‘IMPO88 Plus’ in Korea. ‘IMPO88 Plus’ is a next-generation product following ‘IMPO88’, a device for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, with additional indication as a treatment for chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).

Until now, extracorporeal shock wave therapy devices in urology have only been used for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction, but recent studies have shown that they are also effective in relieving symptoms of non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Huons Meditech states that ‘IMPO88 Plus’ is effective not only for erectile dysfunction but also for chronic prostatitis, and inflammatory and non-inflammatory chronic pelvic pain syndrome patients. In particular, the company has proven through a non-clinical trial that ‘IMPO88 Plus’ reduces inflammation without antibiotics by inhibiting activation of inflammasome, the cell that causes inflammation in CP/CPPS patients.

The company expects that ‘IMPO88 Plus’ will provide a faster and more effective treatment alternative for patients who were dependent on medication. ‘IMPO88 Plus’ has also improved user convenience by providing a dedicated chair.

Huons Meditech is making various efforts to promote the excellence of its urology devices, such as attending exhibitions and holding seminars. The company plans to hold the 'CP/CPPS Treatment Symposium' at the Seoul Dragon City Hotel on June 28, to share its treatment know-hows on chronic prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, erectile dysfunction, and urinary endoscopy disinfection management.
